Why Bootcamps Don't Work

Bootcamps are all the rage and in this economy, we certainly understand why. Military-like training and team-building are a part of our fitness culture, but we are unsure of their actual benefits here at http://www.get-fit-at-home.com/

In an article from my country's newspaper The Daily Mail, the argument is put forward that boot camps are not all they are cracked up to be and in no way can replace a personal trainer.

Dr. Ralph Rogers, consultatn in sports medicine at the London Orthopaedic Clinic worries that these kind of bootcamps result in injury, not weight loss and fitness. He says in the article that any type of physical activity should be entered into gradually. And, even fit clients, have and will continue to injure themselves in that they are trying to overachieve.

Bootcamps are great for team building but do not replace the supervision nor the personal attention that a personal trainer brings to a workout regime or phyical fitness programme.

I tend to agree and I think bootcamps could be a thing of the past. Perhaps group fitness sessions with a small group and a good ratio of trainer to client, but nothing like the masses we are seeing in the big cities. It's a recipe for disaster in my book.
